ABOUT

Anyone else flip through the "Associated Press Stylebook" for fun? No, just me? That's ok, it's for your benefit that I'm a self-proclaimed word nerd. I live for bringing life to words and showing you the power in delivering your perfect message. With more than 20 years of experience as an award-winning multimedia journalist and editor who has interviewed countless people and turned their stories into published magic, I've edited even more writing from others.

Following my investigative and storytelling days on daily deadline, I served as public affairs and information manager for Brevard County Fire-Rescue for a year before spending three years as managing publisher of a professional sports league. I now am managing editor of EverythingBrevard.com Magazine and work privately with editing clients.

I give all my heart to working another business — managing my daughter, Ella's, budding entertainment career. You might have spotted Ella recently in a national Disney commercial!

She was born to make others smile and laugh. I am blessed to have front-row seats to "The Ella Show," and I try to share some of her sunshine. You can follow Ella's (and mom's) adventures on Instagram and YouTube:

My favorite job

A lifelong athlete who attended the University of Miami thanks to academic and swimming scholarships, I am proud to have touched the lives of many in my community during my time as a CrossFit and USA Weightlifting coach. I trained CrossFit for eight years, and coached for about five years. Now, I am thrilled when I can get to the gym for yoga class or hop on the Concept 2 rowing machine at home.

I've been blessed to tell the stories of people doing amazing things in the world. My investigative projects have prompted policy change at the national level. Variety kept things fun when this print journalist was on the forefront of the backpack and multimedia journalism front. I love editing videos!

I was hired out of college as assistant sports editor in Key West, where I covered the historic baseball game between the Baltimore Orioles and the Cuban National Team in Havana in 1999. Other front-page stories from the Keys: I backflipped out of an airplane (tandem skydiving), stayed in an underwater hotel and completed the 12.5-mile Swim Around Key West.

As a copy editor, writer and content editor for 13 years at the mid-size daily newspaper FLORIDA TODAY, my teams and I covered sports, military, religion and breaking news. Throughout the years, I am grateful to have been honored with awards from Associated Press Sports Editors and Florida Society of Newspaper Editors. I partnered with USA Today on several projects and managed a Florida sports bureau.

I had incredible experiences and formed lasting relationships as a regional media director for CrossFit Media. In addition to working the CrossFit Games, I managed remote media teams across the U.S., Latin America and Europe. Those experiences served me well when I became managing publisher of the National Pro GRID League (NPGL), a startup and the first professional co-ed team sports league.

I'm currently the managing editor for EverythingBrevard.com Magazine, a beautiful local lifestyle publication that is embraced by our community and growing.

I've written countless stories. I've edited even more. I love words.
